Kazemachi Jet and Yuunagi Loop Pages
I finally added a page for Maaya's 5th album, Yuunagi Loop. At the same time, I also put together a page for her latest single, Kazemachi Jet. Sample mp3s for both cds are also available.

Kazemachi Jet Radio Clips
Official Maaya Site Updates

At the end of April, both songs on Maaya's upcoming single were aired on her Vitamin M radio show. Recordings of the show are floating around the net and not hard to find for the more resourceful fans. As usual, I've uploaded some low quality clips of the songs for sampling.

See Kazemachi Jet page for mp3s

Maaya's official site has been updated a lot recently, including a special page promoting her Kazemachi Jet single. Coverart and and streaming audio clips are available on the page. I'm loving the coverart... have I mentioned enough how much I love seeing Maaya with long hair?

Other updates on her official website include a new voice role on the works page. Maaya has a (lead?) part in the upcoming anime TV show Binbou Shimai Monogatari. She's been quite busy lately with anime roles, which I'm glad to see.

Another CLAMP Anime Theme Song
Maaya TV Documentary in June

I noticed a couple interesting tidbits on the Guitar Chords & Grapefruits fansite. Maaya will be performing the theme song for the upcoming CLAMP in Wonderland 2 anime, which is titled "Action!" The production staff behind the various CLAMP anime shows seem to like Maaya a lot. Looks like this will be her 6th CLAMP anime related single. Here's a list of what she's worked on thus far:
  • Bokura no Rekishi
  • Gift
  • Platinum
  • Loop
  • Kazemachi Jet

There's also a documentary about Maaya airing on TV in Japan (TBS Channel) on 6/25. There some details about the show on TBS Channel's website.

Kazemachi Jet Preorder Listings
Early this week, I noticed CD Japan added a listing for Maaya's upcoming Kazemachi Jet single. Amazon.co.jp also has the single up for preorder.

On a similar subject, Righstuf.com currently has the US release of Nikopachi on sale for $10 until next Thursday. Also noteworthy is that Bandai is also re-releasing Wolf's Rain under the Anime Legends label. The Wolf's Rain Anime Legends Complete Collection is out on 7/25/06 with an MSRP of $50. Too bad Maaya's role in the show was really brief, but at least she sang the ending theme song, "Gravity", and "Tell Me What the Rains Knows".

Nikopachi US Release Details,
Escaflowne TV R1 DVD Re-release

I got my copy of Geneon Music's release of Nikopachi in the mail the other day. Contrary to what some other fansites are posting, the US release does not include 2 discs. I have no idea where people got that information, but to my knowledge, Geneon has never marketed / solicited their release as containing 2 discs. The only way to get the Nikipachi dvd would be to buy the Japanese limited edition release, which has been out of print for some time now.

With that clarification out of the way, there isn't must else to comment on the US release. As with Hotchpotch, Geneon's release of Nikopachi is practically identical to the Japanese regular edition. The main differences include translated song titles and lyrics in the insert booklet.

Escaflowne fans in N. America that still haven't bought the anime TV series on dvd should take note of the following. Bandai is re-releasing the show under their Anime Legends label, like they did with the movie about a year ago. The Escaflowne: Anime Legends Complete Collection is out on 4/11/06 with a MSRP of $50.

More Kazemachi Jet Details,
Ouran HS Host Club Podcast Launches

I noticed on this updated page on Victor Ent's site that they list a catalog # and price for Maaya's upcoming Kazemachi Jet single. I've updated my previous news post with this info. This page has audio samples of OP and ED songs for upcoming/new anime shows, so I'm sure they will post a clip of Kazemachi Jet soon.

The first episode of the Ouran High School Host Club Podcast is now on-line, and is about 16.5 minutes long. Maaya seems to talk 99% of the time in ep. 1. Here's a direct link to the mp3. Oh, and if anyone fluent in Japanese doesn't have anything better to do than translate the podcast, I'd be interested in reading it naturally.

Upcoming New Single,
Ouran High School Host Club Podcast

Word about an upcoming single from Maaya has been floating around the net for a few weeks now, but Victor Ent. still hasn't posted a catalog # on her official website. The title is "Kazemachi JET", which is also the ending theme song for the 2nd season of the Tsubasa Chronicle TV series. Here's details on the single:
  • Title: Kazemachi Jet
  • Catalog #: VICL-36059
  • Release Date: 6/14/06
  • Price: ¥1,155
  • Song List:
    Kazemachi Jet
    • Lyrics: Maaya Sakamoto
    • Composition: Shoko Suzuki
    Spica
    • Lyrics: Maaya Sakamoto
    • Composition: h-wonder
I thought it would be also be worth mentioning that there's a weekly podcast planned for the upcoming Ouran High School Host Club anime. Maaya is the MC of the podcast which is hosted on this Japanese website and starts on 4/01. The site seems to indicate that iTunes is required to download and listen, but I bet any podcast supporting software will work. In fact, the current download link points to an XML page that contains another link to this intro mp3 file.

Nikopachi US Release Delayed,
New Anime Voice Acting Role

While I continue to procastinate on adding a page for Yuunagi Loop, I thought I should at least post a couple bits of news. Apparently Geneon Music delayed the US release of Nikopachi by about a month. According to Rightstuf.com, the updated release date is 4/04/2006.

In other news, Maaya will be providing the voice of the main character in the upcoming anime TV series Ouran High School Host Club (thanks duckroll). The anime is based of the shoujo manga.

Nikopachi US Release
I noticed on AnimeOnDVD.com that Geneon Music will be releasing Nikopachi in the US on 3/07/2006. I guess Hotchpotch sold enough copies in the US to warrant Geneon to license her second singles collection cd. As far as I know, Rightstuf.com is the ony on-line store that has Nikopachi up for preorder. Other places that sell Geneon cds should have it listed soon also.

On a different note, I know it's been a couple months since my last update. I'll try to post a Yuunagi Loop page in a week or two, but no promises. It's time consuming to maintain a web site afterall.

Official Yuunagi Loop Page Up
Right at the end of September, Victor Entertainment posted a Yuunagi Loop page on Maaya's official site. I was thinking they might upload the page in October after checking her site almost every day last month, but they managed to get it done before feeling the wrath of Maaya fans worldwide.

There's lots of goodies for all you patient Maaya fans to peruse, including the track list, sample audio clips (in both Real and Windows Media formats), liner notes, diary and pictures from the video shoot of her latest PV (promotional video). The PV is for the second track, "Honey Come" which will be on the bonus cd-rom included with the Limited Edition of the album. Other fansites have posted that the PV for "Loop" will also be included on the cd-rom.

Thanks to fellow Maaya fan D.J. Wilsey and some other folks on the net, here's a translation / transliteration of the Yuunagi Loop track list.

  1. Hello
  2. Honey Come
  3. Loop
  4. Wakaba
  5. Paprika
  6. My Favorite Books
  7. Tsuki to hashiri-nagara
  8. NO FEAR / ai suru koto
  9. Unison
  10. Fuyu desu ka
  11. Yuunagi LOOP
  12. a happy ending
And I have to also give huge thanks to my buddy HPMMB (who has helped out countless times before) who did a really quick translation of the text on the video shoot page. The notes were actually written by the video production staff.

"This time, it's a video clip packed with what a girl in love, whose heart is throbbing, is feeling. When she was speaking to and having tea with Heart-kun (<--Try looking for him in the PV), she became too happy, jumped up, and flew directly into space just like that (laugh).

It was all shot inside a studio. Even when just indoors, you do a lot of things. They will all be combined with all kinds of CG so the Maaya Sakamoto moves around in the world of imagination while receiving this-and-that instructions from the director.

Lying on her stomach on top of a platform, spreading her arms as though she's flying. Repeating jumps off from a chair. After that, she sprinted on a treadmill. She enjoyed herself quite a bit by doing things or being in positions she's never done before.

She has to play a cutesy little girl so she's been bashful the entire time. While filming, the volume size of the skirt kept getting bigger so the cuteness kept getting compounded. As though adding insult to injury, the director demanded, 'Feel as though you're a little more embarrassed,' or, 'more bashful.' In the end, she was teased with, 'You're cute,' and that put her in a slightly foul mood (laugh). And so, it was a physically demanding film shoot but filming with Heart-kun put me in a state of happiness. Please enjoy the video clip with the attractive, cute qualities you've never seen of her before.

(This [Honey Come] video clip will be included with the 'Yuunagi Loop' album's first print edition as a bonus."
